How is rose oil produced?
The production of rose oil is very laborious and requires skill and perseverance. At harvest time, the flowers are picked by hand in the early morning hours, when the essential oil content is at its highest. They are cut off individually, placed in baskets and taken to the distillery for further processing. The valuable rose oil is then extracted by steam distilling the petals separated from the blossom. A by-product of the distillation process is rose water, also used in cosmetics and perfume.
