Gesichtsreinigung mit Öl: Die Vorteile der Oil Cleansing Method

Oil Cleansing Method: Advantages

When we think of facial cleansing, we often think of foaming cleansing gels or sparkling toners - after all, we want to thoroughly remove make-up, sun cream and all environmental influences. Cleansing the skin with oil sounds counterintuitive at first. However, oil cleansing is a tried and tested method based on a very simple principle: it regulates sebum production and cleanses the skin without damaging the skin barrier.

What is the skin barrier?

The skin barrier is a waterproof seal. It protects against the entry of foreign bodies (bacteria, microorganisms, dirt, etc.) and holds the outer layers of the skin together. If these outer layers are healthy, the skin feels soft and supple. If the skin barrier is damaged, however, the skin reacts sensitively, is prone to redness and is dry.

Cleansing oil vs. conventional cleansing gels

Conventional cleansing gels or toners often contain strong surfactants (active cleansing substances) that strip the skin of its natural oils. The skin reacts stressed, tightens and looks dull. In order to protect itself, it often produces an excessive amount of sebum - which can result in an oily T-zone.

Facial cleansing with oil: benefits

Facial cleansing with oil (also known as the oil cleansing method) is an efficient and natural cleansing method. The oil provides the skin with important fatty acids while gently removing dirt. This is often referred to as the dissolving behavior of various substances and the principle of "like attracts like". This simply means that make-up, sunscreen and environmental influences are generally fat-soluble and are therefore thoroughly removed during oil cleansing.

Which oil is best for cleansing the face?

In theory, you can use almost any oil to cleanse your face. However, the oils have different properties and are therefore not equally suitable. One important factor: The oils should be non-comedogenic, i.e. they should not clog your pores. The Be You Skincare oil contains grape seed oil and marula oil, both oils are non-comedogenic and contain powerful fatty acids. In addition, the pure rose oil also has an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect and is thus ideal for deep pore cleansing.

Is oil cleansing also suitable for oily skin?

Yes, because oil cleansing regulates sebum production. When you cleanse your skin with oil, it sends a signal that there is enough sebum on the skin's surface. In response, the skin produces less lipids and your skin is less oily.

How to wash your face with oil

If you are not familiar with washing your face with oil, follow these step. Your skin will love you for it!

Step 1

Use warm water to rinse your face (yip - you will look pretty ridiculous, mascara smudges and all). The warm water should soften and dissolve most of the makeup.

Step 2

Pour a little bit of the Be You Skincare oil into your hands. Warm the oil by gently rubbing it between the palms of your hands, then lightly massage your face with the oil to lift all impurities and makeup without stripping your skin's natural protective barrier.

Step 3

Take a soft microfibre cloth or thin fleece, dip it in warm water, and gently wipe your face clean. You can repeat steps 2 and 3 until all makeup residue has been removed - avoid excessive rubbing or scrubbing.

Step 4

Touch your skin and enjoy the softness (no more tight and sensitive skin).
